REMEMBERING WHEN: Designer Gentucca Bini and Lake Como-based silk manufacturer Mantero teamed up to launch an exclusive foulard collection for summer 2012. The line, named “Gentucca Play Mantero,” consists of a range of silk jersey scarves available in three different sizes and featuring exclusive prints. Bini selected some vintage patterns from the archives of the company and mixed them to create colorful wavy motifs, including a style with fruits and flowers matched with checks and Sixties geometrical shapes. “I played with memory, with Mantero’s huge archives,” said Bini. “I tried to bring them back to the present through an unusual language and format of new graphics, sizes and fabric.”
The collection’s logo is the international symbol for the play button, which links to the name of the line.
The scarves will retail at from $120 to $270.
