Gianmaria Buccellati Receives French Honor

The Italian jeweler has been made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

SILVER MEDAL: Gianmaria Buccellati will soon have a new medal to pin to his lapel.

France has named the honorary president of the Buccellati jewelry firm a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Given by the Culture Ministry, the distinction recognizes significant contributions to the arts, literature or the propagation of these fields.

“It is a great honor that France has conferred upon me,” Buccellati said. “I am proud that France recognizes, through this title, the Italian high jewelry tradition and the ‘savoir-faire’ of the Buccellati brand.”

Previous recipients of the honor include Peter Marino, Glenda Bailey, Clint Eastwood and Patti Smith.
