Golden Globe-winner Gina Rodriguez will don the 6th annual Red Carpet Green Dress, part of actress Suzy Amis Cameron’s eco-fashion campaign, to the 87th Academy Awards on Feb, 22.
Alongside Gina will be “American Sniper” actor Jake McDorman.
The initiative, now in its sixth year, selects one design student to create a gown and another to design a tuxedo, both made with eco-friendly materials.
Manon Gabard and Tingting Chen, from ESMOD-ISEM fashion school in Paris, will design the gown and tux, respectively, under the mentorship of American designer Jeff Garner.
This year also marks RCGD’s first retail design collaboration, a capsule collection with Reformation called No Red Carpet Needed.
The six cocktail dresses, loosely based on past RCGD Oscar designs, are made with one knit developed at a Los Angeles mill, and three sustainable viscoses.
Retailing between $68 and $328, the dresses will go on sale Feb. 19 at Reformation’s New York and Los Angeles boutiques and its e-commerce site.
The collaboration will also be toasted that day at Amis Cameron’s pre-Oscar party at Chateau Marmont.
