DOWN TO EARTH: “This is normal,” quipped a casually dressed Giorgio Armani, referring to himself and photographer Peter Lindbergh as they embraced for the cameras at an event to launch Armani’s “New Normal” ad campaign, shot by Lindbergh, in Armani’s new couture salon in Paris on Monday.
The designer is seeking to promote normalcy in fashion and encourage women to embrace their natural style, hence the campaign and collection of the same name.
“It’s not a fashion statement, it’s about dressing in harmony with who you really are,” Armani told reporters at the event.
“There is no [such thing] as beautiful or not beautiful,” Lindbergh stressed. “The woman who exists as the ideal of beauty is a made-up monster. That was something I wanted to change. I was happy that [Giorgio Armani] needed me to make that point!”
For the shoot, Lindbergh was reunited with four models in their 40s, Yasmin Le Bon, Eva Herzigova, Nadja Auermann and Stella Tennant, in which they are seen looking windswept with little makeup, as reported.
