BLOG AROUND THE CLOCK: Vogue Italia’s Franca Sozzani may view bloggers as an “epidemic,” but Cindi Leive is positively embracing their arrival on the fashion scene.
The Glamour editor in chief hosted a cocktail Thursday at Milan’s Grand Hotel for members of Glamour.com’s Young and Posh blogger network. “I can’t imagine why you would feel threatened, because this is what young women are interested in now,” she said. Besides, Leive noted, Glamour has always taken a democratic approach to fashion. “I like to say that our ‘Dos and Don’ts’ back in 1939, when they first appeared in the magazine, were kind of the original Sartorialist,” she noted.
Guests included Stylebubble’s Susie Lau, whose upcoming projects including styling a window for the Dolce & Gabbana flagship store in Milan for an event dubbed “Dress Me Up” that will involve several other bloggers, including BryanBoy. Lau is also collaborating with fast-fashion giant Uniqlo on its Uniqlooks microsite.
Kelly Framel of The Glamourai said her projects ranged from designing a new razor for Schick to styling on the Nate Berkus Show, but her growing fame has not distanced her from her readers. “I try to remain as genuine as I was in the first post and I think as long as you’re able to maintain that, the readers feel it,” she said.
