GOOD ORDER: Prince Charles has handed Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen, an OBE, or The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire honor, for services to the fashion industry. Burton, who designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress, was given the honor during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
Burton, who is pregnant with twins due in February, wore an Alexander McQueen pre-fall 2011 black felt coat with ivory satin-stitch embroidery on the collar, cuffs and hem. She wore a black dress underneath.

“I’m very, very humbled and it’s just a huge honor to be here — I’m very lucky,” she told Press Association after the event. “I’ve been given some amazing opportunities — to work for someone as amazing as Lee [Alexander McQueen] and then having the honor of doing the wedding dress.”
Burton also said she was surprised to receive the royal commission: “It came completely out of the blue, it was very exciting, and I felt very privileged.”
