GROWING WORLD: Lily and Lionel, the London label known for its silk, cotton and wool scarves in vivid patterns and prints, is taking a step into ready-to-wear and swim for spring. The label’s creative director and founder Alice Stone has designed a seven-piece collection that she described as “sport luxe,” with pieces that number a silk georgette kimono, a silk crepe bomber jacket, silk crepe pants and a cashmere wool T-shirt, all in the label’s distinctive, detailed floral and animal prints. Added to that is a collection of bikinis and one-piece swimsuits, which Stone has manufactured with the swim firm Gottex, designed by Stone in prints that match the rtw.
Stone said she created the designs to “easily take you from one season to the next.…Our bomber jacket can be worn just as easily with jeans and a T-shirt as with one of our bikinis,” she noted.
Last month Stone showed the collection at the Cabana show in Miami and Tranoï Preview in Paris, and is currently holding private buyers’ appointments. Wholesale prices for the line run from $60 for a bikini short to $220 for the bomber jacket. Stone counts Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Liberty and Fenwick in London and Henri Bendel in the U.S. among the stockists for the label’s scarves.
