GUCCI FOR GUYS: Brazilian men will get a Gucci store of their very own on July 21 when the luxury brand opens a men’s-only store in the new JK Iguatemi mall in São Paulo, which opened its doors last month. The 3,600-square-foot shop will be Gucci’s sixth men’s-only location, following men’s shops in Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing and Paris, all of which have opened since October.
“Brazil is a very important market for Gucci, and with JK mall being one of the most unique and luxurious shopping centers in the country, we felt it was a perfect location to open our first exclusively men’s Gucci store in the Americas,” said Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, who oversaw the shop’s design concept. Signature Gucci materials like marble and rosewood were updated with Art Deco elements such as ribbed glass, polished gold and smoked bronze glass. Gucci’s distinctive criss-cross Diamante pattern is etched on the shop floor.
A full range of men’s wear, accessories and luggage is available in the store, along with a dedicated area for Gucci’s made-to-measure tailored clothing program. The shop is Gucci’s fourth in Brazil, with existing dual-gender units in other Iguatemi-owned shopping malls in São Paulo and Brasilia, as well as the Cidade Jardim shopping center in São Paulo.
There are no plans to open a men’s-only store in the U.S., according to Gucci.
