CHANGE ALL AROUND: New year, new creative director, new style — and just one show per collection, thank you. Gucci is starting 2015 with a bang: the Italian luxury brand’s January men’s show had tongues wagging, with creative director Alessandro Michele’s unabashed mix of traditionally masculine and feminine elements. Now the Milan women’s show calendar reveals an additional change, as Gucci will be holding a single show Feb. 25 instead of the usual two where press and buyers were split. While a spokesman for the company declined to comment on the change, industry sources indicated that Gucci was likely to maintain its one-show strategy for future women’s collections, because, with the buzz of social media reaching a crescendo as the last model struts off the catwalk, a single show is more impactful.
