EYE ON THE PRIZE: Designer-hotel collaborations are rampant of late — Halston and French shoe designer Maloles Antignac will each unveil a design for select One & Only resorts next month. But designers in need of a little financial boost are applying for The 2011 Dorchester Collection fashion prize. The winner will pick up $40,000 and will display their collection during Paris Fashion Week in 2012 at Hôtel Plaza Athénée. North American-based applicants who have been up-and-running for two years or longer should apply online at thedorchestercollection.com by May 31.
Thomas Tait, the winner of last year’s inaugural fashion prize, will be toasted May 4 at The New York Palace, a sister property and the much-televised spot of another fashion pack, The CW’s “Gossip Girl.” The jury that singled him out — Manolo Blahnik, Giles Deacon, Daphne Guinness, Stephen Jones, Yasmin Le Bon, Elizabeth Saltzman, ES magazine’s Gianluca Longo and the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize chairperson Bronwyn Cosgrave — will join in the festivities.
