A REALLY BIG BAG: Twenty designers and brands have taken over the windows at Harrods as part of the department store’s Handbag Narratives campaign. The shop asked labels including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Victoria Beckham, Loewe, Burberry, Fendi and Stella McCartney to bring their brand to life via an oversized interpretation of one of their most popular handbag styles.
Loewe suspended hundreds of golden tools in the shape of its Amazona style; Miu Miu’s giant Madras bag sits on a sofa at the foot of a spiral staircase; and Marc by Marc Jacobs’ leopard print Madamme Hillier bag is held aloft in the jaws of a trophy head mounted on a red wall.
Simon Longland, Harrods’ general merchandising manager, said the campaign underscores “the significant accessories development at Harrods over the past 12 months where we have doubled the space dedicated to this ever expanding product category.”
In support of the two-month campaign, Harrods is planning a series of in-store events, including personal appearances by designers, bespoke services, photo booths and live art demonstrations.
