HARVEY NICHOLS MAKES NEW APPOINTMENTS: Harvey Nichols has appointed Emma Byrne as group communications director and Shadi Halliwell as group marketing and creative director, the department store group said Monday.
The new appointments follow a review and re-structure of its marketing and press departments, the company said. The appointments also follow the resignation of Harvey Nichols’ group press and marketing director Julia Bowe earlier this month.
Byrne will be responsible for Harvey Nichols’ internal an external communications, and joins the firm from Barclays bank’s retail businesses, where she was communications director. Prior to that she had worked at firms including Alliance Boots and Egg, the banking group. Halliwell’s role, meanwhile, will encompass brand development, advertising and marketing at Harvey Nichols. Halliwell was previously at the communications firm O2, where she spent 23 years, most recently as head of brand and marketing communications. Byrne’s appointment is effective as of April 28, while Halliwell’s is effective June 9. Both executives report to Stacey Cartwright, group chief executive, and both will join Harvey Nichols’ management board on their arrival.
Cartwright said of the appointments: “[Byrne and Halliwell] have proved themselves to be outstanding in their areas of expertise and have much to contribute to Harvey Nichols as a business and a brand.”
