HEADING TO THE EXIT: The German casualwear brand Closed and creative director Kostas Murkudis are parting ways.
The Berlin-based designer was brought into the company roughly a year ago to build up the sportswear offerings and help raise Closed’s profile internationally. Murkudis could not be reached for comment.

Closed said the collaboration was an important step for the company, but divergent views about the vision and future direction of the brand led to the end of the cooperation. “We ultimately could not agree on the direction of the collection,” said Closed chief executive officer Gordon Giers. In addition, he said sales this fall were tough and noted that in order to get back on track, more color must be brought back into the collection. The upcoming fall collection is being developed by the existing creative team, and Closed will continue to focus on denim as the core of the brand.
