Heikki Salonen Joins MM6

Young Finnish designer is a graduate of London's Royal College of Art.

FINNISH LINE: A new wave of young Finnish designers is sweeping over the international fashion scene, and word has it Maison Martin Margiela is riding it. WWD has learned that Heikki Salonen, a graduate of London’s Royal College of Art, will be lending his Finnish touch to the Paris-based fashion house. Salonen, who formerly worked at Erdem and Diesel, has been appointed to the design team of MM6, according to market sources.

A spokesman for the house would neither confirm nor deny its newest team member, citing “discretion as an essential value of the house since the times of Mr. Margiela,” a designer known for his elusive ways.

“We always place the product at the forefront rather than focus on any individual, especially on the design team,” the same spokesman added.
