HERITAGE BRAND: Ariana Rockefeller previewed her spring collection Tuesday evening at a pop-up shop at the Corner in the Roger Smith Hotel on New York’s Lexington Avenue. “I always loved fashion,” Rockefeller said. “I knew I wanted to be artistic. I grew up among very well-dressed women.”
That’s because Rockefeller belongs to the famous family of bankers, statesmen and philanthropists. Her 98-year-old grandfather, David Rockefeller, arrived not long after the event started and Ariana excused herself to greet him.

Rockefeller began her clothing line in 2011. She’s been working with designer Rob Younkers on the collection, which interprets classic shapes in fresh fabrics, mixing silk twill, organza and sheer chiffon. A white shirtdress, for example, has a crepe de chine body, sheer chiffon sleeves and crepe collar and cuffs.
One of the well-dressed women Rockefeller was referring to was her mother, Diana, who was in attendance. “I’m bursting with pride,” Diana said. “She always had this amazing gift. She would pull little things out of the dress-up box” and put them together in interesting ways.
Rockefeller, who until now has sold the collection through trunk shows, said the goal is to eventually sell to department and specialty stores.
