SWANK SIGNED UP: Having raised $5 million for UNICEF, Montblanc is furthering its commitment with help from Hilary Swank and its Signature for Good collection. The actress, who traveled with Montblanc International chief executive officer Lutz Bethge to Ethiopia last fall to see the UNICEF-backed efforts in action, was expected to turn up at a brunch Saturday in Los Angeles to launch the new initiative.
The special-edition writing instruments, jewelry pieces and leather accessories have a brick design to symbolize the joint effort to build a better future by improving access to education, including the brick-by-brick construction of schools. During the month of March, part of the proceeds from each item sold will be donated to raise upwards of $1.5 million for UNICEF’s education programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Swank said, “Every child deserves a fighting chance in life. Education is everything — if you have an education you have a better opportunity to overcome obstacles and have a fighting chance. There is no doubt that teaching is the most important job in the world.”
