HOOFIN’ IT: Steve Madden will have a minor role in Martin Scorsese’s latest film, “The Wolf of Wall Street” — as a character. Based on the memoir by American stockbroker Jordan Belfort, the film details his rise and fall as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont. The company employed more than 1,000 stockbrokers at one time, but Belfort fell hard after being convicted of securities fraud and money laundering. However, Belfort’s successful equity raising for Steve Madden Ltd. was by far one of the stockbroker’s righter moments, one insider said.
Don’t look for Madden alongside Scorsese’s leading men — Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey — when the film is released later this year. Aside from the fact his character’s role is a minor one, it is also played by Dustin Hoffman’s son Jake.
