HOUSE OF LAVANDE GOES BEYOND VINTAGE: Tracy Smith has spent six years curating the estate and vintage jewelry she sells under her House of Lavande brand — and has amassed more than 10,000 pieces in the process — but today she will unveil the first collection she’s designed herself, House of Lavande Made in Italy. The high-costume line is comprised of 35 pieces inspired by Smith’s vintage baubles (Tony Duquette and Mazer items among them) and Palm Beach (where she resides), done in a color palette of gold, green, purple, soft pastels and a touch of coral. Materials include Swarovski Elements, wood, natural stone, Lucite, resin and a crushed coral-rein combo, with prices ranging from about $450 for earrings to $3,500 for an elaborate necklace with hand-dyed pastel resin with a clear-to-pink ombré effect.
“We realize from a financial standpoint that to really grow the company, we had to get past vintage. Vintage is great, but all the press goes to a piece that’s been sold so there is no follow-up business,” said House of Lavande chief financial and chief operating officer Guy Ashley. “This line will give us the opportunity to build the brand with pieces that can be sold in multiple locations simultaneously.”
Ashley and Smith are also actively pursuing getting the vintage pieces of the company into more doors (it’s already carried at Henri Bendel, Stanley Korshak, On Pedder and several other stores).
