HUNTSMAN SOLD: Huntsman, the Savile Row tailor established in 1849, has been acquired by Roubi L’Roubi and Pierre Lagrange from its group of shareholders. Effective immediately, L’Roubi will step into the role of creative director and expand the women’s wear offering.
“More and more women, are seeking Savile Row tailoring; Huntsman recognized this early on,” said Roubi. “We look forward to offering a stronger dedicated service to women looking for excellent tailoring and fit, alongside Huntsman’s formal men’s wear.”
Roubi’s background is in couture, and he has designed a bespoke collection for the British gunmaker Holland & Holland. He will work alongside Huntsman’s head cutter Patrick Murphy. “This investment comes at a great time for Huntsman, allowing us to build on the success we are currently enjoying, with a strong, in-house bespoke business, both here and abroad, complemented by made-to measure and ready to wear,” said the tailor’s general manager Peter Smith.
