Roksanda Ilincic Reimagining Barbie’s Dreamhouse

The designer teamed up with Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio to create a virtual Dreamhouse that will make its debut in the months ahead.

ILINCIC JUST DREAMY: Having helped design her own London home, Roksanda Ilincic is now using her collegiate architecture studies to modernize Barbie’s new Dreamhouse. Before she attended Central Saint Martins, the Serbian-born designer honed up on architecture at Belgrade University. She and Barbie aren’t complete strangers. The designer reimagined the statuesque Mattel doll’s style by creating a more cutting-edge look for her 50th anniversary.

This time around, Ilincic teamed up with Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio to create a virtual Dreamhouse that will make its debut in the months ahead. There is a twist, though: The sun-kissed blonde is looking to unload the three-floor, 8,500-square-foot beachfront Malibu home she has “lived” in since 1971 for $25 million. Through a partnership with Trulia, Mattel created this fictitious, publicity-seeking listing to plug Barbie’s worldwide search to find a new home. Ilincic’s creation will no doubt be partial to pink.
