Initiative in Art and Culture Kicks Off in New York

In honor of its 15th edition, the conference threw an opening night party Thursday at the Bulgari flagship.

TAKING THE INITIATIVE: In honor of its 15th edition, Initiative in Art and Culture threw an opening night party Thursday at the Bulgari flagship. Once IAC director and president Lisa Koenigsberg kicked off the two-day program Friday morning, Simon Doonan was set to follow her with his presentation “Hilarious to Historic, The Asylum: 40 Years in Fashion.” Veronica Bulgari was also on the docket to talk fragrance, and later in the day heavyhitters from the watch world including Ruediger Albers, Maximilian Büsser, Efraim Grinberg and Ulrich Wohn, planned to explore “Perfect Timing: Masterpieces of Contemporary Horology.”

After Friday night’s “Kilt it Up” Scottish-themed cocktail party event at Holland & Sherry Bespoke, attendees will have another full day of talks on the docket for Saturday at CUNY’s Graduate Center. Artist Anne Deniau will start that session will discuss her photography of Alexander McQueen. Fashion 4 Development founder Evie Evangelou will lead a talk about how giving back is the new luxury. And Miguel Adrover will cap off the conference with a conversation with International Fashion Syndicate’s Mary Lou Luther and the University of Chicago’s Michael Rossi.
