The Woolmark Co. has named the U.S. nominees for the International Woolmark Prize. The USA regional award will take place in New York in July.
The nominees for women’s wear are Gabriela Hearst, Hellessy, Monse, Nellie Partow and Sally LaPointe.
The men’s wear nominees are Abasi Rosborough, Matiere, Pyer Moss, Rochambeau and Second/Layer.
Six regional events will be held during July in Hong Kong, Sydney, Milan, London, New York and Mumbai. Nominees will present a look in merino wool and a six-piece capsule collection for industry experts. The 12 winning finalists will each receive 50,000 Australian dollars, or $38,000 at the current exchange, as a financial contribution toward their next collection and an invitation to participate in the international global finals.
The winners of the men’s wear and women’s wear finals will receive 100,000 Australian dollars, or $76,500 at current exchange, to assist with fabric sourcing and marketing of their collection, as well as mentoring from industry experts.
The winners will also have the opportunity to have their collection carried by Harvey Nichols in the U.K., Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, David Jones in Australia, Boutique 1 in the United Arab Emirates, Verso in Belgium, L’Eclaireur in Paris, Boon the Shop in South Korea, Papilion in Indonesia and online through Mytheresa.com (women’s wear) and Matchesfashion.com (men’s wear).
