Iris van Herpen Exhibit Comes to France

The exhibit showcases van Herpen’s original approach to lace.

CREATIVE LICENCE: After bursting onto the haute couture scene with sculptural dresses incorporating the latest technologies, Iris van Herpen takes center stage in a new exhibition at the International City of Lace and Fashion museum in Calais, France. Featuring some 30 pieces made by the 29-year-old Dutch designer between 2008 and 2012, the exhibit showcases van Herpen’s original approach to a classic fabric: blending traditional know-how with innovative technological techniques, such as 3D printing. The result is a cross between haute couture and contemporary art, with sculptural forms and pronounced volumes and effects. The show runs from June 15 through Dec. 31.
