Istituto Marangoni


CREATIVE CAMPAIGN: Italian fashion and design school Istituto Marangoni has launched a student scholarship competition for 2016.

Students can apply and submit their application from Aug. 15 to Sept. 30 via the London campus’ web site. The application is comprised of a student profile, a creative concept and submission of images.

The school’s committee will select winners based on creativity and originality of the concept. The winner will receive 15,000 pounds, or $19,355, at current exchange. The prize is a part of 1 million euros, or $1.1 million, in funding opportunities that Istituto Marangoni awards yearly.

Earlier this year, Italy’s Istituto Marangoni students created a capsule collection inspired by the James Bobin film “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” and in particular by the main character, the Mad Hatter, as well as the White Queen, the Red Queen and Time. Beauty sponsor L’Oréal Paris unveiled a limited-edition collection of six lipsticks ranging from deep plum for the White Queen to a spicy coral color for the Mad Hatter, for example. With dedicated packaging, the line is called “Color Riche Alice Through the Looking Glass.” The collection was unveiled during the movie’s Milanese premiere with a fashion show at the end of May.

Launched in 1935 by Giulio Marangoni in Milan, the institution has locations in Paris, London and Shanghai and future openings are planned in Florence and Shenzhen later this year.
