ITALIAN DAYS: L.K. Bennett has tapped Laura Bailey to design a capsule collection of shoes — and a clutch — that will bow for spring 2015. The five “retro-modern” shoe designs and the bag will be on sale on March 25. An announcement is expected today. The collection was inspired by Italy’s Amalfi coast as well as by the screen stars of the Fifties and Sixties, according to the brand. The color palette includes sea blue, sandy yellow, navy, red and white, while the geometric prints were inspired by vintage Sixties swimsuits, deck chairs, parasols and the sails on a boat. Products include a block-heeled sandal; a pointed crossover-strap flat; an ankle-strap kitten heel and a pointed stiletto. Products are named after the great Italian actresses of Italy’s cinematic heyday — Monica Vitti, Claudia Cardinale, Anna Magnani, Silvana Mangano.
Bailey said L.K. Bennett allowed her to “dream up my perfect summer shoes, while leaning on their technical expertise.” Robert Bensoussan, chief executive of L.K. Bennett, said he enjoyed seeing Bailey’s “unique aesthetic come to life in collaboration with our creative team.”
