ROBBERS CAUGHT: After a two-year investigation, the Italian police arrested a group of 15 South Americans connected to the jewelry robbery victimizing Rosa Maria Buccellati, wife of Buccellati honorary president Gianmaria Buccellati. In May 2012, Buccellati, on her way back from an art show, was about to drive into the courtyard of her home located on Milan’s central Via Durini when her BMW car, containing a trolley filled with jewelry pieces valued at $2 million, was struck by another vehicle.

While the other driver was apologizing to Buccellati, two partners in crime got away with the trolley, which was positioned next to Buccellati’s driver’s seat.

The investigations revealed that between 2012 and 2013, the group robbed 11 jewelry stores and 13 banks across both Italy and Switzerland.
