J Brand to Open First Japan Store

The denim brand will have an outpost in Osaka.

JAPAN BOUND: Fast Retailing will open the first retail location for J Brand in Japan on October 9. Located inside the Osaka Hankyu Umeda department store, the shop-in-shop will have a floor space of approximately 215 square feet.

“Partnering with Hankyu, a leading luxury retailer, for our first shop presence in Japan is an exciting strategic collaboration. We look forward to a very successful relationship,” said Jeff Rudes, J Brand founder and chief executive.

Fast Retailing acquired a majority stake in J Brand last December. Fast Retailing recently set up a Japanese subsidiary for the denim brand, which already has a small wholesale presence in the country.
