Like seasons past, this Japan Fashion Week is shaping up to be a celebrity-free affair. But Jane Birkin did give Tokyo an injection of VIP glamour on Saturday before the official runway shows kicked off.
The British-born actress and singer, in town for the French film festival, put in an appearance at an Audi-sponsored party along with Japanese actress Shinobu Terajima, who recently snagged a best actress award at the Berlin International Film Festival for her work in “Caterpillar.”
Dressed in loose black trousers and a sequined top, Birkin posed for photos with Japanese fans after giving a short speech to partygoers. “I absolutely love this country; the people here know me better than they know me in London,” she said. “The affection I have for them, especially the women, is something very, very special.”
