When guests at Jeffrey Fashion Cares heard that Madonna’s sometime paramour Jesus Luz was backstage, there was some intense—but ultimately flawed—speculation that the Maternal Girl would show up to watch the runway show. Alas. But Luz did open the all-male show, modeling a black Givenchy tuxedo jacket, a Devon Scott tuxedo shirt, white Gucci jeans and black Pierre Hardy sandals.
All the models seemed a bit nervous, as the general audience made little effort to contain the impulse to ogle. The festivities benefitted a handful of charities dealing with legal, health and educational issues for gay people.

Among the 800 guests (a record high for the event) were designers Thom Browne and Calvin Klein Collection’s Italo Zucchelli. Browne skedaddled early, while a gang of fashion publicists stretched the night out.
Zucchelli, who has said he would have gone into music if not fashion, was encouraged to start a radio show, like John Varvatos and Dsquared are doing. “I could do that. I used to mix music for my friends. On cassettes! But I would want my show to be just about music, no fashion,” he said.
