FOR THE LOVE OF OPERA: Joanna Mastroianni will be honored by the Martina Arroyo Foundation, which provides programs for opera students at Hunter College of The City University of New York, at the foundation’s 11th annual gala on Nov. 16 at the JW Marriott Essex House. The foundation offers a couple of competitive programs at the school, including “Prelude to Performance,” taught by Arroyo herself, which culminates with a series of staged performances with sets, costumes and a full orchestra. Mastroianni, who became interested in the foundation after meeting Arroyo — a noted operatic soprano — will donate one of her gowns and select accessories to the event’s silent auction.
