ANDERSON IN TOWN: Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, got a chance to take in the Spanish brand’s newly revamped flagship in Tokyo Wednesday evening at a cocktail event. The Omotesando store reopened its doors earlier this summer. It marks the debut of the designer’s new Casa Loewe concept, which draws inspiration from Loewe’s 1959 flagship designed by Javier Carvajal and incorporates pieces from three generations of Japanese ceramic artisans. A store in Milan featuring the same concept opened earlier this month.
Anderson, on his seventh trip to Japan as the country is one of the biggest markets for his namesake brand J.W. Anderson, said he is eager to make each of Loewe’s stores unique with “a more cultural kind of reference point to it,” he said. “[For] each store, we are collaborating with different people.” Up next, the designer is preparing his first women’s wear collection for Loewe for spring-summer and gearing up for the brand’s first store opening in the United States in Miami.
