GOLDEN AGE: At the tail end of couture week, Russian-born Katie Kovalenko introduced her new K Kova fine jewelry collection, hinged on clean, geometric lines, remotely inspired by the Suprematism movement around artist Kazimir Malevich, as well as modern architecture.
The debut collection spans eight pieces done in black, white and 18-karat-rose gold with matching colored diamonds. “All materials are sourced in Greece and are made there as well. The Greeks are very good at with slim lines and tiny pavé settings,” said Kovalenko, who studied business administration and finance management.
The 25-year old assured that jewelry was “not just a hobby” for her. “I’ve been working on this project for the past two years. I want to build Kova into a successful fine jewelry line,” she said over a stylish dinner prepared by Argentinian chef Fernando Trocca.
Retail prices are to range between 2,800 pounds, or $4,312 at current exchange, and 10,500 pounds, or $16,171, for items including ear cuffs, fine chokers, cocktail rings and drop earrings.
