The Duchess of Cambridge stood in for Charles, the Prince of Wales, in hosting the dinner, which was for the charity In Kind Direct.

KATE’S NIGHT: The Duchess of Cambridge took center stage as a royal for the first time Wednesday night, when she single-handedly hosted a private charity dinner at Clarence House. Kate stood in for Charles, the Prince of Wales, in hosting the dinner, which was for the charity In Kind Direct. Charles travelled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the last minute to offer his condolences following the death of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

The Duchess wore a vintage Amanda Wakeley draped, floor length Empire line gown in ice blue, which sparkled with silver straps and edging that wound around the bodice.

The charity, which the Prince of Wales founded, was set up to redistribute surplus goods from manufacturers and retailers to U.K. charities.
