Speaking of the royal wedding, in anticipation of the Big Event, the Middleton family has been granted an official coat of arms by the College of Arms in the City of London. A coat of arms is a must-have for a future queen of England, and the Middleton family was urged to commission one in time for the wedding. The family came up with the red-and-blue heraldic design, which features three acorn sprigs, symbolizing the family’s three children, and white chevrons reflecting their love of skiing and the Lake District. Kate will only be able to use the coat of arms until the wedding — when hers will be combined with William’s — although her family can continue to use it. A version of the coat of arms will be printed on the back of the official wedding souvenir program, and William’s will be on the front. The program will cost 2 pounds, or $3.24, and feature the full order of service and a previously unseen portrait of the couple by Mario Testino. Proceeds from the sale of the 150,000 booklets will go the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry.
