ON THE TUBE: French fashion chain Kookaï has teamed up with British brand Sibling on Kookaï Paris meets Sibling London, a limited edition capsule collection. The 15-piece knit collection includes Kookaï’s signature body-con dress with horizontal stripes, a jacquard tartan overcoat, a striped shirt and a range of tartan bags, hats, scarves and socks. The price range is 29 euros, or $39, for socks to 249 euros, or $338, for a coat. The line will be available in November in 35 Kookaï stores and on Kookai.com.
With a penchant for knitwear, the designers behind Sibling — Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery – worked at various design houses including John Galliano and Lanvin before launching their label in 2008 and have infused a bold punk aesthetic into their knitwear.
“The starting point for design inspiration was the heritage of Kookaï,” Bates told WWD. “We asked what they considered THE signature look and the answer was the ‘tube’ dress (the French call it a ‘sock’ dress) so we launched from there.”
Kookaï reached out to the London-based label last December. “We get approached a lot, but we were interested in Kookaï immediately, as Clarisse Mazière who spearheaded the project brought a lot of enthusiasm which gave us confidence that we’d enjoy the collaboration and that it would result in a strong outcome,” said Bates. “We’re always keen to collaborate when we believe the pairing has synchronicity.”
