KRIZIA’S BRIDGE: Krizia is skipping a runway show in September but its new owner, Chinese fashion retailer Shenzhen Marisfrolg Fashion Co. Ltd., plans to stage an event during Milan Fashion Week celebrating the history of the brand.
The owner of the group, entrepreneur Zhu Chongyun, who has become chairman and creative director of Krizia upon the completion of the acquisition of the Italian label this spring, said on Monday that the event, to be held at Milan’s Baroque Palazzo Litta and sponsored by the city and the Italian Chamber of Fashion, will “bridge” the past with the future. Krizia founder Mariuccia Mandelli passed the baton to Zhu after six decades in business.
Four Italian magazines — Elle, D Repubblica, Amica and Flair — will choose looks from Krizia’s archives and “make them contemporary,” said Zhu, who is working on revamping Krizia and will hold a fashion show to launch the new course of the brand in February next year. The label’s Via Spiga boutique in Milan will be unveiled with a redesign that month. Zhu said five stores in China will open in 2015. The entrepreneur and designer also said she was in talks with a number of candidates to fill the vacant role of chief executive officer.
Marisfrolg is based in Shenzhen, but Krizia will continue to be based in Milan.
