GETTING GRAPHIC: La Rinascente is celebrating one of its most creative talent, Lora Lamm. From 1953 to 1963, the Swiss graphic designer worked in the Milanese department store’s creative office realizing some of the retailer’s most memorable campaigns.
“We are pleased to fete one of our best contributors and a great artist,” said La Rinascente fashion director Tiziana Cardini, praising Lamm’s “feminine, fresh and modern style.”
In conjunction with an exhibition dedicated to the work of Lamm, which opened at the m.a.x. museum in Chiasso, Switzerland, last month, La Rinascente will display some of Lamm’s designs in its windows on Milan-s Via Santa Radegonda until July 1.
In addition, the department store’s Design Supermarket will host a corner where customers will be able to purchase the catalogue of the exhibition, along with postcards and posters of a number of the campaigns designed by Lamm. “I spent ten great years at La Rinascente with a wonderful team of creative people,” said Lamm. “For inspiration, we were all looking at the United States, where there were all those amazing magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, W, Esquire. We have never copied them, but we were devouring them.”
