CLEAR AND PRESENT GAGA: To promote her upcoming tour for “Born This Way,” Lady Gaga enlisted photographer Terry Richardson to shoot her in a series of — what else? — provocative images. The first, shown here, with more soon to be released, features the songstress wearing a revealing corseted gown by fashion wunderkind Hogan McLaughlin. “We had a week to put it together,” said McLaughlin, who was commissioned by Gaga to design and execute the vinyl piece with no guarantee she would wear it. “I worked through the night several times and hoped for the best. I never worked in plastics before,” he said. But the effort paid off.

McLaughlin, a former dancer-cum-self-taught designer, garnered attention when he caught the eye of Daphne Guinness via Twitter; she has worn his looks to the opening of her exhibit at the Fashion Institute of Technology and during her stint in Barneys New York’s windows last spring. Stay tuned for more as he plans to present a small lineup of 20 looks in an informal presentation during Paris couture week in July.
