Lane Crawford is taking an artistic approach to Chinese New Year, which kicks off early next month. The Hong Kong-based luxury retailer has recruited a crop of artists, including Andrea Minini, Angel Chen, Desmond Leung, Hui Hoi Kiu, Huijun Guan, Mosaic Art Projects, Jan Zhou and Yeli Gu to create a series of visual installations at its stores in Hong Kong and China.
This is the year of the monkey, according to the Chinese zodiac. To wit, several of the artists tap into simian themes for their work. Mosaic Art Projects, led by visual artists Karen Pow and Chao Harn Kae, created a large, papier-mâché sculpture of a monkey that references the traditional Chinese art of paper-cutting.
