ADDING WOMEN’S: High-end men’s wear firm Lardini unveiled its first women’s collection on Tuesday, to bow for fall/winter 2013.

“This launch marks a sort of return to our roots, because from 1978 to 1988 we were producing women’s collections for a number of luxury brands such as Versace, Christian Lacroix and Valentino,” said Andrea Lardini, president of the Lardini Group, which includes both the Lardini brand and Gabriele Pasini, the new men’s label lunched at international trade show Pitti Uomo last January.

Creative director Luigi Lardini reworked Sixties-inspired fabrics into about 50 classic and elegant jackets and coats featuring sartorial details. In addition, the company extended to women’s wear its RVR Lardini range, consisting of waterproof reversible outerwear pieces. Lardini women’s collection will retail at about 600 euros, or about $800 at current exchange rates.

In 2012, the Lardini Group saw its revenues reach 55 million euros, or $73 million, from 53 million euros, or $70.8 million, in 2011.
