Laurance Rassin Relaunching Apparel During FNO

The American painter is hoping to up the ante on social shopping.

RASSIN’S APPAREL HAS A QR CODE TWIST: American painter Laurance Rassin, known in the art world as an international rising star, is relaunching his apparel collection tonight during Fashion’s Night Out on the second floor of Lord & Taylor in Manhattan. The L&T buyers picked four dresses and some scarves for the event. All items are made in New York City. The collection features selected prints from Rassin’s artwork. The front label of each item indicates the brand LR 2012. The label’s backside will showcase in tech-speak a Quick Response code, in which a smartphone that reads the QR code will then be taken to the L&T Web site.

Rassin, who says he has a patent pending on what he’s calling G-Tech Tags, is hoping to up the ante on social shopping. The artist, who is also working on a reality television show mixing art and fashion, will provide some entertainment for FNO since his band will be playing at L&T as well.
