PRINT EDITION: Liberty London’s latest Iphis print in-house accessories collection — which the London department store presented for wholesale for the first time during London Fashion Week — put the focus on simple bag designs in an upbeat palette of turquoise, orange and purple.
Designs on show included the label’s limited-edition Iphis Patchwork collection, set to launch in April for spring. Shapes such as Liberty’s Marlborough tote bag, Kingly backpack and Maddox cross-body bag were done in Liberty’s Iphis print — a reworking of its Art Nouveau Ianthe archive design — in a patchwork of turquoise, purple and orange printed canvas.
“We treat the print like a monogram,” noted James Millar, Liberty London’s head of design.
Millar said he’d taken his cues for the collection from the colors in works by artists Gary Hume, Michael Craig Martin and Dan Flavin.
Prices for the collection run from 65 pounds, or $100 at current exchange, for a cardholder to 550 pounds, or $852, for the Kingly backpack. In addition, a line of leather bags in shades of navy and maroon will launch in June, with the Iphis print embossed onto the leather.
