MILLER’S MUSES: Louis Vuitton unveiled its latest Curated Shelf series, with the writer and artist Harland Miller in London on Wednesday. Held at the “librairie” on the second level of the Louis Vuitton Maison on New Bond Street, Miller picked specific works that had an impact on him.
“I guess they are supposed to be ten not necessarily favorite books, but books that inspired you to do what you do now,” he told WWD. “They are like books that aren’t even necessarily that good, but I thought were good when I read them and they set me off on a certain kind of trajectory.
“It’s really good to re-read books actually. I really like re-reading Frankenstein, actually. When I first read Frankenstein I probably read it because I’d seen the movie…and then when I came to re-read it again the language is really beautiful.”
Miller penned his novel “Slow Down Arthur, Stick To Thirty” in 2001, and is best known for his series of paintings based on Penguin book covers.
Miller joins the ranks of previous curators including David Bowie, Juergen Teller, Tracy Emin, Grayson Perry, Yayoi Kusama, Cindy Sherman, and Jake and Dinos Chapman.
