HONG KONG – Handbag designer Lulu Guinness is slated to attend a cocktail party at the British Consulate in Hong Kong on May 17. The event will not only reaffirm the designer’s ties with First Eastern, the Hong Kong-based investment group that owns 15 percent of the company, but will also give the brand the chance to increase its profile ahead of major expansion in the region.
Lulu Guinness plans to open five stores in South Korea over the next five years as well as a flagship boutique in Kuala Lumpur, slated to open in early 2012.
More stores will be added in Malaysia and Singapore as well as in China, for which the company has developed a Chinese Web sit, launching this month.
Martin Mason, chief executive officer of Lulu Guinness, said the company “is making significant progress with its plans to develop new partnerships across Asia. With an ever-growing business in Japan, the time is right to bring quintessential British glamor to new Asian markets, particularly China and Korea.”
