LUXURY HOSPITALITY: LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton has added to its growing luxury hotel portfolio with the acquisition of the Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France on the island of Saint Barthélemy in the French West Indies.
The luxury conglomerate bought the hotel, which has 39 rooms, suites and villas, from majority owner Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners (AJ Capital Partners) and others for an undisclosed sum. The five-star resort, set on Flamands Beach, includes the Isle de France Spa and the La Case de l’Isle restaurant.
The hotel will be operated by LVMH’s Hotel Management division, whose portfolio includes a Cheval Blanc hotel in Courchevel and others under development in the Maldives, Oman and Paris — the latter as part of the La Samaritaine complex.
A growing list of fashion and luxury players has entered the hotel business in recent years under various business models, including Versace, Giorgio Armani, Missoni, Moschino and Bulgari.
