SHIFTING THE PLANTS: With the $400 million renovation of Macy’s Herald Square breaking ground this month, Macy’s annual flower show for the first time will be transplanted outside the store right in front, under a 5,000-square-foot tent on Broadway Plaza. The flower show, called “Brasil: Gardens in Paradise,” opens March 25, has a two-week run, and ties into the store’s upcoming Brasil promotion.
“It’s a radical departure from the show’s traditional home, the dramatic main floor inside Macy’s Herald Square,” said executive producer Robin Hall. The tent will be climate-controlled, and span 150 feet from 34th to 35th Streets. Macy’s said the flower show will be inspired by the culture, spirit and landscape of Brasil including its beaches, indigenous botanicals, the Amazon rainforest and the colors of Carnival.
