Madonna Stirs Controversy With Instagram Post

The singer posted a black-and-white selfie of her torso with the word “CENSORED” plastered across her breasts.

MADGE IS MAD: On Monday, Madonna did what she does best — stir controversy — this time with an Instagram shot. The singer posted a black-and-white selfie of her torso with what appears to be a streamer of white fabric crisscrossing it. The word “CENSORED” is plastered across her bare breasts and the caption reads: “What I wanted to wear to Met Ball but Anna said Not this year! So I’m gonna work on music instead? #artforfreedom.” Perhaps a joke, though some speculated that after Madonna’s look from last year — a studded-up tartan Givenchy blazer thrown over a holey fishnet bodysuit and thigh highs — Wintour solicited Madonna’s dressing plans for this go-around, just in case; a move that no doubt would rankle Madonna.

As for Wintour’s reaction to Madge’s Instagram post, a Vogue spokeswoman said, “Anna is always thrilled to have Madonna at the Met Gala.” Madonna’s publicist did not return requests for comment by press time.
