MADRID MOMENT: Spain’s prestigious fashion magazine Telva handed out its annual awards Monday night at the Palacio de Cibeles, a glassed-in annex glued to City Hall and the Spanish capital’s hot new party venue. Winners were Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci (the year’s best international designer), Alvaro Castejón and Arnaud Maillard, of the Madrid-based brand Alvarno (best Spain designers) and Azzedine Alaïa (lifetime achievement). Alaïa didn’t show but what is generally considered Madrid’s best night out drew a bevy of designers, models, socialites, actresses and one royal couple, Prince Nikolaos and wife Tatiana of Greece, resplendent in black and white. Also on the guest list: fashion TV presenter and the evening’s host Nieves Álvarez wearing a geometric printed gown by Emilio Pucci; Spanish actresses Verónica Echegui in broad-banded, strapless Dior and Norma Ruíz in a floaty, one-shoulder dress by Donna Karan Atelier; models Juncal Rivero in a black second-skin gown by Armani and Ariadne Artiles in Gucci; Pronovias president and owner Alberto Palatchi and wife Susana Gallardo, and Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, son of the Duchess of Alba. In addition, the magazine was celebrating its 50th anniversary.
