Giles Deacon Teams With SHOWstudio

Design Download series allows the site’s viewers to download patterns and make designer dresses.

MAKE AND DO: Giles Deacon is the latest designer to take part in SHOWstudio’s Design Download series, an initiative that allows the site’s viewers to download patterns and make designer dresses.

Starting today, the pattern to Deacon’s Troubador dress, which was worn on the runway by Lara Stone for fall 2007, will be available for download.

To celebrate the contribution, Nick Knight, founder of SHOWstudio, has shot a film featuring Ranya Mordanova and the original dress. “The purpose of our Design Download series is to give everyone, everywhere, access to amazing high fashion,” Knight told WWD. “It’s all about demystifying fashion and breaking down the barrier between artist and audience. Giles is the perfect person to have involved with the series as he’s both a brilliant craftsman and also an exceptionally popular, fun designer.”

Previous Design Downloads have featured looks by Alexander McQueen, Martin Margiela and John Galliano.
