COLORS OF INDIA: Manish Arora has transformed the Joyce Gallery in Paris’ Palais Royal into a brightly hued space full of flashing lights, gemstones and glitter. “This is my world,” said the designer at the opening party for the pop-up store on Saturday evening. “I thought it was a good chance to show not just me but everything I like about India.”

In addition to Arora’s fashion designs, the incense-filled shop features everything from colorful wooden statuettes from the city of Varanasi, where he recently shot his short film “Holi Holy,” through collaborations with brands like Portico for bedding and Good Earth for tableware, to a selection of brands and works evocative of his home country, including Nappa Dori bags and elephant photographs by Charles Fréger. While the effect is more like an art gallery than a retail store, “everything is for sale; you can take a part of my world home,” Arora did not hesitate to point out. The boutique remains open through November.
